Mr. Nuckols retired from the Virginia Farm Bureau in 1986 and formed a law firm with his son-in-law Raymond Sinnott III. They were later joined by Kevin V. Logan and became Sinnott, Nuckols & Logan, a civil-litigation practice that focused on insurance-related matters. He was known for always having a great attitude and for also being very upbeat and positive. Mr. Nuckols died in 2008. He is missed.
ABOUT MR. NUCKOLS:
Otis Nuckols was a founding partner in 1986 and practiced with the firm for over 20 years. He was instrumental in directing the firm in the pursuit of excellence in insurance and defense practice. Prior to that, he was employed by Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company for thirty-five years, completing his tenure in the position of chief executive officer. For many years he was a registered lobbyist in the Virginia General Assembly on behalf of Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company.
Active in various pursuits related to law and insurance, Otis was an adjunct Professor in the Marketing and Business Law Department of Virginia Commonwealth University, teaching Business Law and Insurance Law, for almost twenty years. He was an approved mediator for Arbitration Forum, Inc. and traveled throughout the Commonwealth and North Carolina giving continuing education seminars for the insurance industry. He was a board member for the Jefferson National Bank from 1983 until its merger with Wachovia in 1997.
He was a Life Member of the American Bar Association and a founder and Life Member of the Richmond Claims Association.
Otis received his law degree from T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 1951 and his Bachelor of Arts from Lincoln Memorial University in 1948. He was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in 1951.
